Hathras – In an unannounced verification exercise conducted by the state transport authority outside Bagla Combined District Hospital on Monday evening, five privately‑operated ambulances were impounded for failing to meet essential transport regulations.
Reason for the Action
The operation targeted vehicles stationed close to the hospital’s main gate and the adjacent over‑bridge. The enforcement team, headed by Assistant Regional Transport Officer Laxman Prasad and Probationary Transport Officer Ram Babu, inspected each ambulance to verify the presence of required documentation.
Documentation Reviewed
Inspectors checked a range of documents, such as:
- Vehicle registration certificates
- Fitness certificates
- Insurance policies
- Road tax receipts
- Relevant permits and licences
All five ambulances were found missing one or more of these critical papers, resulting in their immediate seizure.
Penalties and Legal Steps
Two owners opted to settle the violation on the spot, paying a total of about ₹12,000. The remaining three ambulances are now subject to formal legal action, and all seized vehicles have been moved to the ARTO office for further processing.
Continued Enforcement Effort
The transport department clarified that this raid is part of an ongoing initiative to eliminate unlicensed or improperly documented ambulances operating around the district hospital. Authorities are also keeping a close watch on illegal parking of ambulances that linger near hospital premises while awaiting patients.
By tightening oversight, officials aim to guarantee that every private ambulance serving the community complies with safety and regulatory standards.
