Haridwar: A 60‑year‑old man passed away while under treatment after his 27‑year‑old son is said to have struck him with a wooden stick following a brief domestic dispute in the Chandi Ghat Basti area.
Argument Escalates into Violence
According to police reports, the clash occurred on Friday evening when the father, identified as Pyare, was cooking with his younger child. An argument erupted between Pyare and his elder son, Prakash, 27, over a household issue. The disagreement quickly turned hostile, culminating in Prakash lunging at his father with a stick.
Father Sustains Critical Injuries
Witnesses say Pyare suffered severe head trauma and collapsed shortly after the assault. He was rushed to AIIMS, where doctors fought to stabilise him. Despite intensive care, his condition remained critical and he succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning.
Police Launch Investigation
Law enforcement arrived at the scene promptly, secured the area and began formal procedures. Prakash was taken into custody for questioning and is currently being held in connection with the homicide. The deceased’s body remains under police custody pending further legal steps.
The tragic episode has shocked residents of Chandi Ghat, prompting calls for deeper scrutiny into domestic violence cases. Authorities assure that a thorough investigation will continue, and any additional evidence will shape subsequent actions.
