Shocking Scene in Sutha Village
At dawn on Monday, villagers from Sutha — which falls under the Khudaganj police beat — arrived at their local shrine to discover a grisly tableau: two temple custodians had been slain and their bodies set ablaze.
Who Were the Victims?
Gopaldas, a long‑standing resident of Azizganj, had tended the Sutha temple for several years. Sharing the duties for roughly a month was Baba Bihari Das, who came from a neighbouring sanctuary.
Prime Suspect Emerging
Early police leads point to Sumit Singh, a local who was released from jail about a month ago. According to neighbours, Singh often visited the two men and expressed a wish to live on temple grounds, a demand that sparked a series of heated arguments.
Police say an altercation broke out on the night of the killings over Singh’s claim to the property. Since then, Singh has disappeared.
Community Response
Locals describe Singh as a person with a criminal record and a history of substance abuse. Many villagers kept their distance and were reportedly uneasy about his return to the area after his release.
Police Action
Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit confirmed that Singh’s name surfaced early in the investigation. Three dedicated teams have been dispatched to locate him, while broader inquiries continue into the double homicide.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are examining every possible motive behind the violent dispute and the circumstances that led to the bodies being burned. Further updates will be provided as the hunt for the suspect progresses.
